Thinking About a Reclaimed Wood Ceiling?
Have you been thinking about ways to elevate your living spaces? Are you designing the home of your dreams and want to make it special - or are you thinking about taking your home design to the next level? Adding a reclaimed wood ceiling is a perfect way to add depth, dimension, and intrigue to any space!
Our “Wood Ceiling Clients” fall into 3 main categories: 1. The Purists - clean, pristine, stained, 2. The Visionary Painters! and 3. The Dirty Top Rebels.
The Purists like wood how it was intended… milled smooth and stained! They want the beautiful grain and the stability of antique, reclaimed wood, and they also want it stained. This look gives a very finished feel to your interior design. Take a look at this beautiful space above by McKinney area designer Becca Masters @_mish.mash_. Her creations are always so well thought through, with clean lines, warmth, and lots of eclectic charm — they are the perfect mix of vintage, modern & patina’d. She used our 5” clean face, Reclaimed Doug Fir, and stained in Walnut by Huemiller.
The Wood Painters want the freedom to choose whatever color they envision but want the non-duplicatable texture that reclaimed wood provides. Megan Bean designed this elegant outdoor space using our reclaimed Oak Flooring on the reclaimed wood ceiling! To differentiate it from the wood ceiling beams and other warm design elements, she painted it a creamy white, and it’s just sooo amazing - truly unique and makes a bold statement. Maybe you’ve seen reclaimed painted shiplap, or painted barn wood? The reclaimed wood base makes an excellent canvas, with the end result having undeniable character.
Last but NOT LEAST is the Dirty Top Rebels. Dirty top is when the original, antique, dirty face on the lumber has been left intact. The weathered wood has aged in color, deepening to caramel or weathering into greys, and everything in-between and around it on the “wood” color wheel. It also has texture galore with dings, nail holes, gashes, stains, etc. Dirty Top offers the most Rustic feeling, but it can also be installed to feel Rustic-Modern. The progress picture above of a living room (designed by Shauna Smith ) with arched doorways, with the reclaimed wood ceiling set to be the perfect mix of New, Rustic, Modern, Traditional, and Homey. In addition to receiving the texture and patina that you want, installing a dirty top ceiling means you can stop after installation; there is no need for finishing such as painting, sanding, or staining.
