Pine Floors Tell your Story
Just like a photo album or family stories retold each holiday, Pine floors are the keepers of your family’s life and essence. Pine is a conifer, which in a nutshell means its fibers are considered soft. This has many advantages; one of the most practical perks is that they’re cozy and inviting under your feet. Cooking, walking and living on them is truly a joy! Even more special is the fact that they can scratch and dent. If your big and beloved dog (with unclipped nails) runs across them, or your toddler accidentally drops something “adult” that she’s not supposed to be playing with, or guests at a party dotted them with their stilettos…. a mark is left. The depth with lessen over time, similar to how a scar fades, because Pine fibers compress overtime with weigh and walking. But that moment, that memory, is forever etched into the soul of your floors. Theses scratches are usually irritiating & annoying at first, but in time, you realize they keep alive some of the most precious parts of living.
This photo from The Morrow House inspired me to write this. We rarely get to see what our floors look like after they are installed and lived on, but this perfectly captures their storytelling essence. While these floors are Pine, we did not supply them, just admire them!
The Morrow House is a historical landmark and vacation rental in Waco, TX. It was renovated in 2017 by Chip and Joanna Gaines and featured on season 5, ep. 1 of Fixer Upper.
